What I give below are my future plans. As I got back
evaluation results
it seems that parents and students felt the same way about how the camp
went. As best I can tell, I had 25 satisfied campers in
2006
.
Right now I am working towards the option of two one week camps, one for
8th-12th graders (looking at more High School level contests) and one for
5th-8th graders (much like this year) and capping both around 32 campers
each. This will allow the camp to grow, but still stay a manageable
size. I really enjoyed the contact with the kids and if the camp grows
too large, it will lose that aspect. This would also keep the age
range from getting too big. I am trying to finalize dates when campus
facilities are available. Right now the 5th-8th grade camp is scheduled
for June 24-29, 2007 and the 8th-12 grade camp is scheduled for July 8-13,
2007. The cost may need to increase to $375 (rather than $350
as it was in 2006--waiting on word as to how the increase in minimum wage
will affect charges for use of the campus facilities). Full details
will be posted at the camp website at
http://www.sbuniv.edu/~khopkins/2007mcc.html
.
I am available in fall 2006 or spring 2007 to do a "mini-camp" on a Saturday
for a school, a district, or a home-school group that might be interested
in providing kids a learning experience with working with math contest problems.
Just contact me (khopkins@sbuniv.edu
) and we can discuss the details (time, location, what kind of fee I would
need to cover my time, etc.)
