Connect 9 Math grant Three Rivers Community College
Schedule of the workshop-this is where most of the details about what was covered during the week occur. With many sessions, there are links to websites that were demonstrated or suggested.
The workshop has some significant follow-up planned. · Cindy Tanner, one of the staff, will serve as Math Coach and travel to help teachers during the year. · We hope to set up a listserv so that teachers can post questions to everyone so we can continue to collaborate to improve math instruction in Southeast Missouri. Further information (and archive) about the listserv will be here as it is developed. · There are four regroup sessions scheduled during the year. · As ideas are shared the website will be updated accordingly.
Syllabus of the workshop-One hour of graduate credit from Southwest Baptist University is available for participating in the workshop. Hopefully student enrollment papers will reach Bolivar in time for Dr. Hopkins to tell students their student ID. With that, they can access their grade at https://advisor.sbuniv.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor?&TYPE=M&PID=CORE-WBMAIN&TOKENIDX=4624814364 where they will need their student id (initial password is 8 digit birthday, like 01011901 for students born January 1, 1901). Information on receiving an official transcript from SBU is available at http://www.sbuniv.edu/Reg/transcript.HTM. SBU is offering a graduate class in Poplar Bluff in Fall 2008 and has numerous online classes available (including one in Fall 2008 on designing effective curriculum for the Math GLEs). Graduate course schedules are posted at http://www.sbuniv.edu/mseducation/schedules.htm.
Press Release concerning the grant. I also tried to put together a map where the partner districts are in white, down in Southeast Missouri.
This site prepared August 2008 by Dr. Kevin Hopkins as part of the Connect 9 Grant through Three Rivers Community College.
